ENISHI is more than a teppanyaki restaurant: it is the fulfilment of a fated encounter and many years of hard work and camaraderie between three talented chefs who crossed paths far away from home.
“Enishi means fate in Japanese, it is about the bond between people who were predestined to meet. Shun, Ami and I all met whilst working in Australia and we had the same vision to explore the world through our craft and bring the art of Japanese cuisine to the world.
We dreamed that one day we would be able to do this together,” said Chef Toru.
After the success of his first solo venture, Shun wanted to create a second Japanese concept offering a completely different experience to Censu but would be guided by the same founding principles: a restaurant that felt like a second home to staff and guests alike; the philosophy of wabi-sabi which highlights the beauty of simplicity and imperfection which allows for constant growth and improvement; and a customer-centric dining experience.
After another chance meeting with Toru and Ami, now married,
Shun knew it was indeed, ENISHI.
